10 Simple Tips to be Greener at Home in 2011

I actually took this photo from Clingman's Dome
(Now he wants it back)

10.  Buy rechargeable batteries and a charger

9.  Make a dedicated effort to RECYCLE

8.  Purchase RECYCLED products.  This completes the loop

7.  Change your HVAC air filter at least once every 3 months

6.  Install a programmable thermostat

5.  Buy Energy Star appliances and light bulbs

4.  When not in use, keep the damper in your fireplace closed

3.  In winter months keep drapes and blinds open during daylight hours.  In summer keep them closed to keep your home cooler.

2.  Ensure weather stripping and caulk is properly in place around all doors and windows

1.  Donate or recycle your unwanted electronics
